Nursing care process according to Callista Roy's adaptation model in presurgical patients
Abstract
The objective of this research was to design nursing care plans through an assessment based on the Callista Roy Adaptation Model, identifying adaptive responses and priority problems in presurgical patients at the Alfredo Noboa Montenegro Hospital between December 2025 and March 2026. A quantitative, descriptive and field study was carried out with 100 patients selected by non-probabilistic convenience sampling. The results showed relevant alterations: 65% slept between 4 and 6 hours, 40% had moderate anxiety, 84% worried about post-surgery activities, 56% had some degree of functional dependence, and 60% had no professional emotional support. 59% had limitations in receiving or understanding preoperative information. It is concluded that the model allowed a comprehensive assessment and guided care plans aimed at the physical, emotional, functional and social well-being of the preoperative patient.
