Keywords: Urban development, development plan, development indicators, (UNESCO Thesaurus)

Abstract

The overall objective of the research was to analyze participatory land-use planning and sustainable urban growth to improve local governance in Samborondón, Ecuador. A quantitative method was used to analyze descriptive data obtained through data collection. The study was supported by a literature review. In addition, an inductive-deductive method was applied, using a non-experimental research design. A descriptive-correlational approach was used. The sample size was calculated using a probabilistic formula, resulting in a sample of 43,347. It is concluded that excessive urban growth in Samborondón has created significant challenges, such as uncontrolled expansion and environmental degradation. Public policy formulation must adopt a comprehensive approach that incorporates strategic urban planning, efficient land use, and the integration of green infrastructure to ensure sustainable and orderly development in the future.
