Multimodal monitoring management, applying scientific evidence to optimize comprehensive care for critically ill patient
Abstract
Multimodal monitoring integrates key variables to guide real-time decisions in the intensive care unit, requiring comprehensive clinical management. The objective was to review the literature on the cognitive role of nursing in multimodal monitoring, under the evidence-based practice approach. The narrative review method was used by searching indexed databases such as PubMed, SciELO and Dialnet. The impact of artificial intelligence on algorithmic interpretation was evaluated. Among the main results, it is stated that nursing critically integrates technological data. Her competencies include calibration, artifact detection, and contextual reading. However, alarm fatigue and cognitive load limit clinical rescue. Monitoring is a socio-technical system; Technology provides objective signals, but nursing plays the superior cognitive role, transforming data into situational awareness and dynamic surveillance
